Social Media Roles on Coffee Shop
Most of my friends in the coffee business would totally agree with me that Social Media especially Instagram is a huge help for coffee shop branding and marketing. And based on my experiences, it is true that the people here in Jakarta are driven by social media to try new coffee shops, new products, and new places.

| Being a good royal customer // Being greedy |
The beauty of the photos that people took in your coffee shop are the marketings, their friends will ask about the name / location of the coffee and the reviews. So besides awesome coffees, it's also necessary for a coffee shop to post nice photos on their account, it drives people to follow the coffee shop account on social media, that leads them to come and try the coffees (and take more beautiful photos to post on their social media obviously).
Social Media Marketing Tips :
1. Hashtags are important
Create your own hashtags that can be used not only by your coffee shop account but also can be used by the customers. You can check the photos, feedbacks and reviews from the customers and have a direct interaction through social media.

2. Get Followers
Go through some well known hashtags that the coffee lovers usually use, like #coffee or #latteart for examples. You can like their photos, follow their accounts, or comment on the photos to make them noticed of your account existence. If you have some beautiful coffee photos in it, most probably people will follow it.
3. Invest on Photographer
If you find that hiring a full time photographer cost much on the overheads, try to hire a part time photographer, that comes in the coffee shop only on the weekend but takes a lot of photo stocks to post on weekdays too. Or you can simply learn how to take a good photos and invest on cameras ;)
4. Being Consistent
People need a non stop reminder on how awesome your coffee shop is, or to promote new seasonal menus to invite old customers back. Make sure that you can keep updating your accounts every day, or every 2 days at least. New photos daily with simple captions that makes your followers comments on it.
5. Good Natural Light
To drive people to take photos in your coffee shop, a good natural light is necessary. Most of the people will take photos of your coffees and foods if there's a natural lights, that's why people likes to take photo besides a big window. So having some spots for coffees and foods photo sessions could be a good thing.
6. Create a Competition
The most common competition on social media are the photo competitions in Instagram. From latte art, coffee, food, ambience, etc etc. With competition prizes as a catch, you can make the people that wants to join the competition to follow your account, to post your photos, or even ask their followers to vote for their photos in your coffee shop account. It drives activity on the coffee shop social media account, another successful marketing :)
In the end of the day, it really takes a commitment to boost the social media followers and activity. If you can't manage this alone, hire someone to manage the social media accounts that always have new creative ideas and to reply the messages / comments in social medias. There's no such a thing as bad marketing, so don't worry too much. Hopefully this will help you growing your social media active followers. Cheers!
