Coffee Shop : A Perfect First Date Location
There are time in our lives when we're panicking about first date location and choosing the right place for this important event is a huge matter, as this might be the beginning of our love story, or a complete nightmare. Some people choose to go to a fancy lounge or restaurant, but I prefer something with less hassle. Coffee Shop. And on this post I'll tell you why all first dates supposed to be in a coffee shop..
1. Casual and Low Key
First date could be terrifying for some, especially if it's in a fancy lounge / bar / restaurant. We might freaked out what to wear, do our hair, do our nails, etc etc try to look presentable on the first date, that's too much investment for a first date, or at least for me. I'd prefer to go to a coffee shop since it's casual vibe, I can get there just with sneakers, tees and jeans, and just be me! Low key environment is good, since you don't need to prepare your self so much for this.
2. No Pressure
Unlike going to a fancy restaurant where you need to dress up according to the dress code and understand the fancy menu, in a coffee shop there's no pressure what so ever about the dress code or the menu. I really think that we don't need any additional pressure on the first date, we're cold sweating and almost passed out already. Do not add anxiety attack.
3. Coffee Says A Lot
This is a real thing, you can actually tell a lot about a person from their coffee. So listen carefully when he ordered, does he have any knowledges about coffee, does he ordered a fancy coffee, does it takes 10 mins checking on the menu, is it a plain black coffee, or he doesn't even drink coffee, or his order was annoyingly specific until the barista want to punch him in the face?? By the time that you two left the counter, you already have some clues about this person that you're dating.
4. Not Drunk
This is a good thing! Let's not under any alcohol influence on the first date, so you're not going to do anything humiliating for your own good. This way you can get a real conversation, no need to worry about any alcohol intake and passed out on the pavement later on.
5. Easy To Communicate
I don't know any coffee shop that plays super loud EDM / Techno with the DJ screaming "Let's Make Some Noise!!!" So I think having a first date in a coffee shop means less noise, no screaming DJs, no super loud music, and you won't damage your vocal cords since you don't need to scream to talk to one another.
6. Flexible Time
Going to a coffee shop for a date, means you don't need to make a RSVP a week before, so to meet the date schedule should be easier. You can just go there in the morning to grab a coffee together. Or during lunch hour if you can squeeze some time, or in the late afternoon. Every hour you can have coffee, that's what I'm trying to say here ;)
7. Cut It Short
There's only 2 ways the first date ends, either it's a huge success with sparks and chemistry between you both, or it's a complete disaster that makes you want to vomit only by thinking about it. A coffee date can lasts very short. If you would like to get the hell out, you only need to finish your coffee in a gulp and you can excuse your self to go back to work.
8. Topics to Talk About
There's a lot of action going on in a coffee shop, from the baristas, the customers there, to the people passing. If by any chance that you're out of ideas what to talk about, you can easily watch people around you and bring it up as a topic.
Overall I think coffee shop is a pretty intimate place to have a first date. No pressure what so ever, no complications on the schedule, no need to dress up, less noise, can have a personal conversation to get to know the person before you decided wether you would like to meet him again for the second date or block his number for the rest of your life. Good luck on the date my dear friends..I hope your date won't be excruciating ;)
